Remembering to say Yes

I was reading Sharon’s blog over at www.momgenerations.com (awesome, awesome site if you don’t already know) about swimming in the rain. It got me thinking about the other day.

We live in NC and lately it seems like we have been getting these early evening pouring rain storms almost every day. They last about 15 minutes and then are gone.

Well one day, last week, after dinner, it was really coming down. I said to the boys, “Wow, look at that!” Quinn said, “It looks like a shower”. So of course Max said, “Mommy can we take a shower?” pointing to the back porch. My first reaction (in my head thank goodness) was nuh uh. No way.

But then I thought about it. Our neighbors to the left were in NY and our neighbors to the right had just moved out and the new neighbors haven’t moved in. There’s really no harm…No one could see… Why not? So I said, “Sure, wait for me, I’m going to get towels.” So I ran upstairs and grabbed three towels and my camera. One for Quinn, one for Max and one for the floor, the camera for me.

By the time I got back there were clothes strewn all over the living room floor (who knew they were wearing that much stuff) and two nakey boys practically jumping up and down in excitement. Here is their first charge for the railing.

They laughed and jumped and splashed and tired themselves out. They were so worn out, bedtime was a snap. I am so glad I said yes.
